Swimming at our school

Additional Information

 Swimming and water safety has been a requirement of the curriculum since 1994. The aim is for all children to leave primary school with a basic ability to swim competently. Requirements are broken down into three;

  • Swimming 25 metres,
  • Using a range of strokes,
  • Knowing how to self-rescue.

Our Key Stage 2 classes all go swimming during the year. We use the facilities at Shrewsbury Quarry Leisure Centre. Using three pools we can provide a safe environment for non-swimmers along with the challenge required to extend those who swim more proficiently.

The coaching is provided by the centre and supported by our teaching staff.

Each year we publish how well we have worked towards the above requirements.
