ITS GOOD TO BE GREEN

How it works

This is our whole-school behaviour system. In each class every pupil has a set of cards that help recognise positive behaviour by starting as green. If things aren’t going well these can change with specific consequences attached as follows:

Green – expected behaviour.

(Verbal Warning – a reminder to make a better choice.)

Yellow Card – 5 minutes reflection at breaktime if low-level behaviour continues.

Red Card – 15 minutes reflection and parents are informed.

Every day is a fresh start.

What We Expect

We expect all children to:

  • Be kind and respectful
  • Use good manners
  • Look after school property
  • Follow classroom, playground and dining hall rules
  • Represent the school positively on visits and when travelling to and from school

Staff model these behaviours and support children who may need extra help because of additional needs or personal circumstances.

Our Approach

  • We focus on positive behaviour, praising children often and celebrating their achievements.
  • When behaviour falls below expectations, we use fair, consistent consequences so children can learn from their choices.
  • We work closely with families because children make the best progress when home and school work together.

Behaviour Policy

At Martin Wilson School & Early Years Centre, we want every child to feel safe, happy and ready to learn. Our Behaviour Policy helps us create a calm, caring environment where pupils can do their best and develop respect for themselves and others.
